2nd Annual Strides Against Narcolepsy Virtual Run/Walk Raises Over $500 for Wake Up Narcolepsy

On the weekend of July 12-14th, people with narcolepsy and their supporters around the world participated in a virtual run/walk to raise money to support Wake Up Narcolepsy’s mission in funding research to find a cure.  With donations still trickling in as of yesterday, August 11th, the total amount raised was about $580.  Way to go, everyone!!

I am encouraged by the growth I saw this year.  Last year, the Facebook page had around 38 “likes” when the event was done.  As of today, the page has 126 “likes.”  In addition, we also grew the event by offering t-shirts.  Thank you so much to Katie Ratcliffe for designing the shirts and making them available through GetOversleep.  If you haven’t checked out her store, go take a look!

Here is a photo of the shirt:

I would also like to thank Ken McDonnell with Wake Up Narcolepsy for getting the donations page up so quickly and for answering my questions.  The process went smoothly, and I’m really excited to see what we are able to put together next year.  I’m thankful for the opportunity to raise money for such a wonderful organization.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the run/walk.  HUGE thank you to those who donated and/or collected donations.  I am looking forward to making this event even bigger and better in the years to come.

Next up, I’ll share my personal experience participating in this year’s event….

  1. Thanks for hosting the event, Heather! You’re very welcome for the shirts – I had fun making them for the event. Despite my sleep studies falling on the same weekend as Virtual Run/Walk, I really enjoyed participating as a first year runner/walker. I look forward to joining you all again next year for fundraising.
