Monday Motivation: Focus

This week’s Monday Motivation is something I am working on – focusing on the possibilities instead of on the problems.  Within each problem lies an opportunity to make a change for the better.  Don’t like your weight?  Time to start exercising and eating clean.  Not enjoying your current routine?  Change it up.  Try a new class.  Engage in a different hobby.  Medication not working?  Talk to your doctor.  You don’t have to settle for the status quo.  And remember:

    Totally agree.

    Whenever I have a problem I allow myself 15 minutes of absolute wallowing in self pity…woe is me and all that rot. I throw my entire self into this pity party, full force and with vehemence, banners and balloons.

    Then I MOVE ON! I take the quiet moment after such an outrageous pity party and breathe. Reevaluate the situation and formulate a plan. That plan at no point includes feeling sorry for myself cuz I’ve been there done that already and have no need to redo it. My hubby is always saying “Have a plan. Work the plan.” He’s also a fan of “Improvise, Adapt, Overcome”….these are both good sayings when working through an issue and I’ve found that there are moments that I’m gritting my teeth with the chanting of them in my head just so I can get through a tough part.

    Once I’ve accomplished my task and fixed the problem at hand I make sure I throw myself another party…an “Atta boy!” party. Once again throwing my entire self into it, full force and with vehemence, banners and balloons.
