About this Blog

Strides Against Narcolepsy is dedicated to those who have narcolepsy and those who support them.

The author of this blog was diagnosed in September of 2011 after struggling with her sleep habits for several years.  After two sleep studies, she was diagnosed with narcolepsy – a diagnosis she half expected but still came as a shock.

While learning coping strategies to manage symptoms, the author realized that the more she focused on her health and fitness, the better she slept, and the better she felt.  Not only did running help her physically, it gave her time and space to deal with the hardest part of narcolepsy – the emotional aspects.

Through this blog, the author hopes to reach others coping with narcolepsy, whether it be the narcoleptics themselves or the loved ones who support them each and every day.
